Night of Prayer

September 23 | 6:30pm | At Your Local Campus

Pausing to pray and seek God’s will in our daily lives is essential. We witness God move and work because of His faithfulness and our prayers. Even more so, when two or three are gathered in His name and seek His will through prayer, He promises to be there among them and respond (Matthew 18:19-21).

At Night of Prayer, we will gather with our biblical community at each campus to call on the Lord to work in our church through Legacy’s leadership, members, and missions partners. Let’s pray for the Lord to strengthen marriages and families, to use Legacy to reach the lost, and ultimately to see His Kingdom grow!

We will continue to approach the Lord in prayer through our meditation on Biblical narratives. September’s upcoming Night of Prayer will focus on The Armor of God and is based on the sermon series entitled “My Weakness, God’s Power.” Our prayer is that you plan to join us for this spiritually edifying experience!

Legacy’s Annual Banquet

November 17 | 5:00pm

Learn more and rsvp!

Legacy’s Annual Banquet is a gathering of every campus in one location to celebrate all that God is doing in our church! Together we reflect on the past year, share a plated meal, lift our voices in song to worship God, and look ahead to what God has planned through Legacy’s teams.

Sword Ceremony

Legacy partners with parents to disciple the next generation!

Parents of first graders! Sword Ceremony is a special day at Legacy because parents celebrate a discipleship milestone of reading and learning God’s Word! Ephesians 6 says that the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit!

The Sword Ceremony is one of nine Legacy Landmarks. Each year, Legacy gives a Kids Bible to all first graders who are part of Legacy as an encouragement for them to grow in their love for God and His Word! Parents also are given the opportunity to give a special blessing to their kids. These blessings consist of meaningful prayer about the future and instill commitment in the hearts of kids.

Want a free Bible for your 1st grader?

Legacy will provide a free Kids Bible to all first graders! A special part of this gift is that it comes with a customized blessing from you in the cover. A Children’s Minister will reach out to you and give you steps for submitting your customized blessing! (You must have a first grader part of Legacy Kids programming).

When does my child get their Bible?

Legacy has planned a very special time for all parents and first graders on September 15. Parents will receive the Bibles to give to their children, have time to read their blessings over their children, and can celebrate together. Contact your Campus Elementary Minister if you have not yet received communication about this upcoming event.

Legacy Landmarks

These discipleship milestones are Legacy’s plan for partnering with parents as they disciple the next generation! Our integrated family ministries starts with new babies and walks alongside of parents/guardians as they train their child up in the way of Jesus!

1. Parent Child Dedication – Legacy will celebrate parents who are publicly committing to raise up their children in the way of the Lord and His Church.

2. Sword Ceremony – Incoming first graders will be presented with a Children’s Bible by their parent or guardian. They will be encouraged to grow in their love for the Lord and His Word.

3. Baptism- As the culmination of a child’s faith decision, baptism by immersion happens once a child chooses to put their faith in Jesus and publicly confesses Him as Lord and Savior.

4. Upgrade – Incoming sixth graders are prayed over and welcomed into a new phase of life – Legacy’s Student Ministry.

5. Identity in Christ – Teens will be introduced to concepts of biblical masculinity and femininity and challenged to live a life of purity.

6. Missions Encounter – Upperclassmen will be exposed to the importance of global missions, and understand they have a part to play in God’s story, through a service-oriented experience.

7. High School Graduation – We will celebrate Legacy’s high school graduates and ‘pass the baton of faith’ to them as they prepare to leave home

8. Church Membership – Young adults will be called to become covenant members at Legacy, deepening their commitment to the body of Christ.

9. Leadership Community – Young adults will become a part of Legacy’s Leadership Community, where they will be commissioned to be actively invested to disciple the next generation of believers.

For more information, please contact Bryan Dunham ([email protected]) or David Sims (913-579-3535).

Griefshare Synopsis:

“This is by far, the hardest thing I have ever had to do since becoming a Christian. Oh, I have had troubles like we all do, but this is completely different. Nothing else comes close to this experience in terms of the level of personal pain and suffering.”

These are the words shared by fellow Christ-follower who suffered the recent unexpected death of a spouse. In response to the shattering reality of the loss of a loved one, Legacy Christian Church Blue Valley Campus will be offering a GriefShare small group dedicated to persons in our church and in our community who find themselves in this unwanted circumstance and would like to meet with others who are in the same situation and learn how to process and navigate this hard road together.

The GriefShare Program features biblical, Christ-centered teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The video teaching for the group will feature nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion facilitated by a trained Legacy volunteer. Past participants have related how helpful the information and follow-up discussions were to them.

Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Too often people, including Christians, tend to stuff their grief instead of allowing it to do the God-given work for which it is intended. Don’t allow fear of what others may think to keep you from what could help you. Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend.

No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future. Even if you yourself have not suffered such a loss, please pray about sharing this information with others in your life who may benefit from participating in this group.
