Bylaws Vote

As God continues to guide us in the search for Legacy’s next Senior Pastor, we have pursued and received valuable counsel from seasoned consultants and respected leaders in our brotherhood. Drawing on their expertise in navigating transition like ours, we are updating Legacy’s bylaws to better reflect the evolving needs and values of our multi-site congregation. This update is a collective effort to strengthen our body and showcase Legacy Christian Church to potential Senior Pastor Candidates.

A congregational meeting will take place to vote on the changing of the current bylaws to the proposed amendment.

Why Change the Bylaws?

  1. They are outdated!
  2. The bylaws are inconsistent with the way a church Legacy’s size operates. They are currently written more in line with a church that is not multi-site and holds a congregation size of 200 or less.
  3. Currently, the hire of a senior pastor requires a congregational vote. Legacy has been consistently advised that such requirement is an outdated practice.

The change in the amendment proposes that the Administrative Elder Board are the ones who make amendments.

The Proposed Amendment

Women’s Brunch

March 2 | 9:00am-11:30am | $5

Entrusted: Taught By Grace

Legacy’s Olathe Campus Women’s Ministry Team is excited to host a testimony brunch on Saturday, March 2. All ladies are invited to come enjoy brunch, worship, and building friendships. Each one of us has been entrusted to live our lives well, and this morning together will help us consider how best to do that!

We will be encouraged and challenged as a few Legacy ladies share testimonies of how they have been taught and changed by the grace of God and how they’ve been encouraged to walk in that grace as ones entrusted to share that grace with others. And it is our hope that each of us will leave this time together encouraged in our own entrusted lives.

Bring your friends and neighbors!

Registration closes February 25. Contact Monica Butler ([email protected]) if you have any questions!

Back Snacks

Where Compassion Meets Hunger

Welcome to “Back Snacks” where compassion meets hunger in the heart of the Lee’s Summit middle school community. This ministry is dedicated to ensuring that no child goes without enough food over the weekend. Recognizing the challenges some middle school students face, we extend a helping hand by providing snacks to those in need.

We believe that every child deserves the chance to focus on their studies, fun, and family, enjoying childhood without the burden of hunger. Through the kindness of our volunteers and generous supporters, we assemble weekend snack packs filled with treats, ensuring that these students return to school on Monday recharged, ready to learn, and equipped with the energy they need to thrive.

Join us in fostering a community of care and support, as we strive to create a brighter future for every child, one bag of snacks at a time. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young individuals, empowering them to reach their full potential and build meaningful connection in their families’ hearts and minds with the Lord’s Church.

Austria Missions Trip

TRIP Date tbd

Interested in going to Austria with a Legacy team?

Welcome to Austria and more specifically to beautiful Haus Edelweiss, home of TCM International! TCM (Taking Christ to Millions) is staffed with professors who train pastors and Christian leaders around the world, equipping them to make an impact in their home countries and regions.

Legacy began supporting TCM in the early 1970’s, making them our longest Global Missions partnership! Legacy supports TCM both financially and through service. Countless Legacy members have served at TCM, allowing the students and professors to focus on growing God’s kingdom through the educational opportunities at TCM. While serving at TCM, short term mission trip members stay busy as part of the kitchen crew, facilities crew, or grounds crew. Most rewarding, however, is the opportunity to build relationships and pray with the students at TCM.

Please pray for the students at TCM as they continue to prepare for ministry in their home countries. Pray that the Lord would use them in BIG ways to make disciples and plant churches for His Kingdom.

If YOU would like more information on serving at TCM with a Legacy team, reach out to Legacy’s Missions Coordinator, Angie Teeple ([email protected]) today!

Meeting Details:

Legacy Christian Church – Lee’s Summit
Room 205
2150 East Langsford Road
Lee’s Summit, MO 64063

Griefshare Synopsis

“This is by far, the hardest thing I have ever had to do since becoming a Christian. Oh, I have had troubles like we all do, but this is completely different. Nothing else comes close to this experience in terms of the level of personal pain and suffering.”

These are the words shared by fellow Christ-follower who suffered the recent unexpected death of a spouse. In response to the shattering reality of the loss of a loved one, Legacy Christian Church Lee’s Summit Campus will be offering a GriefShare small group dedicated to persons in our church and in our community who find themselves in this unwanted circumstance and would like to meet with others who are in the same situation and learn how to process and navigate this hard road together.

The GriefShare Program features biblical, Christ-centered teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The video teaching for the group will feature nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion facilitated by a trained Legacy volunteer. Past participants have related how helpful the information and follow-up discussions were to them.

Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Too often people, including Christians, tend to stuff their grief instead of allowing it to do the God-given work for which it is intended. Don’t allow fear of what others may think to keep you from what could help you. Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend.

No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future. Even if you yourself have not suffered such a loss, please pray about sharing this information with others in your life who may benefit from participating in this group.
