Shepherding Elders Ordination

Elder Nominations

The men listed below have completed the examination process as prescribed by Legacy’s Elder Manual. Having found these men in compliance with all Biblical and local qualifications prescribed in scripture and the Elder Manual, Legacy’s current Elders are now unanimously recommending these men be ordained as Shepherding Elders of Legacy Christian Church.

If any member of Legacy Christian Church knows of any reason why any of these men should not be ordained, you are asked to submit that information in writing to the church office by Sunday, June 5, 2022. The submitted information must be signed and be delivered in a sealed envelope addressed to the Chairman of the Elders (Mike Shelton). We believe a local church does not select its leaders, but rather is to recognize men whom the Holy Spirit has called and equipped for leadership ministries. This process of recognizing and affirming whom God is raising up among us is an issue of eternal importance. Please keep all of our Elders and, in particular, these new candidates in your prayers.

Dave Boyer – Overland Park Campus
Josh Brown – Olathe Campus
Mark Roberson – Olathe Campus
Joe Greenhaw – Blue Valley Campus
Vince Long – Blue Valley Campus

What is a Campus Shepherding Elder?

At each Legacy Campus a team of Shepherding Elder is responsible for the spiritual oversight and shepherding of God’s people on their campus. This includes all matters of pastoral care and church discipline.

The Campus Pastor will function as a first among equals on this team and will be responsible to lad and equip then for effective service.

As shepherding is the primary function of elders all Legacy Elders are expected to continue in active service on one of these teams.

Shepherding elders serve an indefinite term. Every December they will be asked to recommit themselves to service for the coming year. We believe God raises and calls elders into service. Shepherding elders should serve until they no longer feel called to the office or cannot fulfill their responsibilities.

Shepherding elders who fail to fulfill their assigned responsibilities will be first admonished and possibly removed from eldership by consensus of the other elders.

More Details & FAQ's

It's my first time attending Youthfront with Legacy, what do I do?

Complete registration and payment through Legacy’s secure website, then head to Youthfront’s website and create a parent account for you and your student! This will be where you can load up your student’s account with money to spend at the snack shop for snacks, drinks and any Youthfront merchandise your student many want.

I have sent my student to a Youthfront camp before...do I still need to create an account?

Log in with your Youthfront account and access our week of camp by using Legacy’s Middle School camp week code: lclegacy

How do I contact my student while at camp?

In order to keep camp as distraction-free and tech-safe as possible, we will be checking students’ cell phones in at registration, or you can choose to not send your student to camp with their phone.

All Legacy’s staff and volunteers will have their cell phones on and available at all times. In the case of emergency, you can contact Youthfront staff directly as well.

How do I send my student with money for the snack shack at youth front?

We recommend using Youthfront’s online pre-loaded account instead of sending your student with cash! It’s fast & simple and, once you have an account, you are good to go!

To start, head to Youthfront’s website to create an account here: https://youthfront.com/account/

From there, you can create an account or log in from a previous year of camp–if you completed this step last year with us, please log in and access your student account. Load up your student account with money to be used in the snack shop.

See the attached PDF entitled, “Directions for Adding Camp Bucks” provided by Youthfront for full details & instructions. You may send your student with cash, but pre-loading a student account is the cleanest, safest, fastest option for providing your student with camp bucks for the week! We recommend $2-5 per day for snacks, with most items being $1-2 in the Snack Shop.

Can my student request a roommate?

Yes! Please add the names of your students requested roommates in registration.

What are the cabin and sleeping arrangements?

Students will be assigned to a cabin that sleeps 16 students via bunk beds with mattresses. Community-style showers and toilets are in each cabin. Cabins all have central A/C. Bedding & towels for the pool and bathing are not provided, so pack accordingly!

Cabins will be by birth sex/gender, age group and campus. A minimum of two adult cabin leaders will be assigned to each cabin. All Legacy leaders are background checked and certified leaders through our Legacy Leadership certification process.

What is the food like, and what do I do if my child has a dietary restriction?

Food at Youthfront is excellent! Meals are buffet style, and offer lots of variety of student-friendly meals. If your student has a specific dietary restriction, please indicate in your registration, and we will notify Youthfront’s kitchen staff who will prepare specific meals according to your students specific needs.

Can my student bring snacks to camp?

Yes! Please make sure all snacks are re-sealable in order to keep our cabins clean, orderly and bug/animal free.

My child takes medication. How will medication be handled at camp?

We will have a full-time nurse stationed at camp who will be accessible 24/7. We will be asking you turn in any prescription medication that you are concerned your student needs to be supervised with at registration, with detailed administration instructions at check in, or you can fill in the Health From ahead of time and bring it to check in. Please indicate clearly the dosage and administration instructions.

Health Form
What if my child has a medical emergency?

We will contact you immediately via phone, and have emergency vehicles and staff in place of a medical emergency.

Do I need to send my child with sunscreen, bug spray etc.?

Yes! Please send your student with personal sunscreen and bug spray. There are plenty of trees and tall grass surrounding camp, so we encourage students to be using bug spray every day while at camp. Please bring DEET-FREE bug spray to be considerate of students with allergies.
