October 25-26 | 9-12 Grade | $60
Join us for Fall Retreat 2025 happening October 25–26. Open to all 8th–12th grade students, this weekend retreat costs $60 and is designed to equip students with the confidence, tools, and strategies to boldly share and defend their faith with their peers. Centered around the theme “Abide,” based on John 15:1–11, we’ll explore what it means to remain in Christ, and how that connection empowers us to make Him known to others.
Throughout the weekend, students will be tent-camping, experiencing a meaningful time of preaching, personal and guided Bible studies, student testimonials, small group conversations, and hands-on opportunities to practice sharing the gospel and their own stories. Legacy’s students will leave the retreat more rooted in Christ and more prepared to reflect His truth and love in their daily lives.
• Legacy’s student ministry will provide all tents and supplies needed for this weekend. Please see the packing list and schedule for more details.

Elder Ordination Service
Pending approval of the nominees, we will celebrate the ordination of Legacy’s newest shepherding elders. Service will include a program and intentional time of prayer at the Overland Park Campus. All are invited!
The men listed below have completed the examination process as prescribed by Legacy’s Elder Manual. They are found in compliance with all biblical and local qualifications prescribed in Scripture and the Elder Manual. Legacy’s current Elders are unanimously recommending these men to be ordained as Shepherding Elders of Legacy Christian Church.
If any Legacy Christian Church member knows of any reason why any of these men should not be ordained, you are asked to submit the information in writing, along with your name, in a sealed envelope addressed to the Chairman of the Elders. The information must be delivered to the church office by Sunday, September 28.
We believe a local church does not select its leaders, but rather is to recognize men whom the Holy Spirit has called and equipped for leadership ministries. This process of recognizing and affirming whom God is raising up among us is an issue of eternal importance. Please keep all of our Elders and, in particular, these new candidates in your prayers.

What is a Campus Shepherding Elder?
At each Legacy Campus, a team of Shepherding Elders is responsible for the spiritual oversight and shepherding of God’s people on their campus. This includes all matters of pastoral care and church discipline. The Campus Pastor will function as a first among equals on this team and will be responsible to lead and equip them for effective service. As shepherding is the primary function of elders, all Legacy Elders are expected to continue in active service.
Shepherding elders serve an indefinite term. Every December, they will be asked to recommit themselves to service for the coming year. We believe God raises and calls elders into service. Shepherding elders should serve until they no longer feel called to the office or cannot fulfill their responsibilities.
Shepherding elders who fail to fulfill their assigned responsibilities will be first admonished and possibly removed from eldership by consensus of the other elders.

Values of Legacy Moms
-
We will love and accept each other through genuine, authentic friendships. Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
-
We will support and encourage one another by always pointing to Biblical TRUTH. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Encourage one another and build each other up.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
-
We will help one another through selfless service. Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
-
We will challenge one another to be accountable for spiritual growth. 2 Peter 1:5-8 “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
