Have you ever waited a really long time for something? Here in Matthew 1, after over 400 years of silence, an angel appeared to Joseph to tell him the Savior is coming. As we start the gospel of Matthew, the wait is now over. The angel announced the promised savior, Jesus.

God has fulfilled His promise to save us from our sins, this is the good news we can share with others. Who do you know you can share this with? Have you been waiting to share this news with someone?

Jesus has been arrested at night by Jewish religious leaders. While Jesus is being interrogated by the leaders, Peter is nearby warming himself by the fire. In verses 66-72, three times Peter is asked if he knows Jesus. Three times Peter denies he knows Jesus. Are you ready with your own response?

Tell action: Write out your response for the question, “Do you know Jesus?” Is there someone with which you can share the response today?

In Mark 11, Jesus widens the accept / despise gap felt by people and religious leaders. People shout, “Hosana!” (verse 9) and the religious leaders plot to kill him (verse 18). Jesus sees the entire range of people’s heart and actions, yet calls for forgiving people (v.25) amid his pending abandonment by people and execution by religious leaders.

“Give” action: Give heartfelt forgiveness to those who have, are or are on the verge of hurting you.
